Senior Projects Engineer - SMS
This post is based in Great Yarmouth. Willingness to travel is required as the successful candidate will be expected to represent the Company on technical and commercial matters in meetings with customers and suppliers.
Applicants should be qualified to HNC/HND or degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience within the oil, gas and petrochemical industries would be advantageous. Candidates must be fully conversant with Microsoft packages (including MS Excel and Project) in order to produce project documentation. Knowledge of AutoCAD would also be an advantage.
Duties will include the following:
- Manage project activities to achieve agreed project milestones by directing the work of the nominated Project Engineers and by liaising with all departments, the customers’ engineers and inspectors and sub-contractors. Carry out the design and engineering of hydraulic / pneumatic systems in accordance with project specification and statutory requirements and take responsibility for all project activities allocated by the Project Manager.
- Financial management of each project including expenditure, profit, submission of contract variations to client and review of contract variations from sub-suppliers.
- Ensure project schedules are met, maintain up to date knowledge on progress and prepare monthly project progress reports.
- Ensure that technical and commercial project specifications are available to all personnel involved in the project and that these are interpreted and implemented correctly in the equipment specification and in design drawings.
- Ensure that all technical design information is made available to the CAD Design Office and E&I Engineers in time to allow preparation and checking of drawings to be completed on schedule and at maximum efficiency.
- Ensure that the procurement of components, materials and services is carried out in accordance with project technical and quality requirements.
- Expedite suppliers to ensure timely submission of documentation and delivery of equipment and materials.
- Carry out technical evaluation of allocated projects, identify problem areas and deviations and ensure all matters are discussed with customers’ engineers and clarified in order to avoid delays.
- Maintain a watching brief on equipment design to ensure cost efficiency and compliance with contract specifications.
- Maintain a watching brief on the fabrication and assembly of the equipment and find solutions on day to day problems.
- Prepare the equipment test programmes, carry out the functional testing of the plant assisted by the project team.
- Manage the site installation and carry out commissioning and site acceptance tests assisted by the project team as required by the contract.
- Ensure that equipment data books and manuals are prepared on schedule and, when required, organise, supervise and assist in the training of customers’ personnel.
- Ensure that all potential variations to contract are identified and pursued in a fair and credible manner in the interest of the company and get variations agreed and purchase order amendments.
- Maintain the agreed project cash flow by ensuring that invoices are issued correctly and on time.
- Ensure that commercial conditions of the contract are understood and are compiled with.
- Ensure the SMS quality management system and design procedures are followed and standards are maintained.
- Assist, when required, in the preparation of technical proposals, cost and labour estimates and provide support service to the Proposals department during contract meetings with customers’ engineer and purchasing agents.
- Maintain technical awareness of new technology and provide technical assistance and advice to the project engineers and other departments as required.
- Maintain and promote a professional and harmonious relationship with SMS and with the customers’ representatives.

Workshop Technicians - SMS Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth
Specialised Management Services is a leading provider in the supply, repair and refurbishment of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
We currently have vacancies at our Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth facilites for Workshop Technicians. Applicants should have a background in mechanical engineering and be conversant with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Hose manufacturing experience would be an advantage but training will be given. A clean driving licence is essential.
Key duties are:
- To be fully conversant with pressure testing control panels / tube work to SMS / UKOOA Standards up to 25,000psig.
- To be fully conversant with Hot Oil / Water Glycol flushing of small bore instrument tube / control panels to SMS / UKOOA standards.
- System FAT and function testing of hydraulic / pneumatic control panels and assisting supervisors with fault finding.
- Inspection, maintenance and repair of workshop assets, including but not limited to flushing skids.
- Corrective maintenance and fault finding of client hydraulic / pneumatic control systems.
- Inspection & surveying of client hydraulic / pneumatic control systems.
- Accumulator repair, inspection and recertification once training has been given.
- Nitrogen pre-charging of bladder / piston accumulators and dampers.
- The ability to represent the correct image and profile of the company to employees, suppliers, client and end user alike.
- Training of apprentices and trainees in good practices, pressure testing techniques and hot oil flushing practices.
- Detailed completion of project close out reports / documentation / certification and ensuring that said documentation is passed to the engineer, signed, dated and identified correctly for invoicing and certification data packs.
- To be able to work under one’s own initiative or as part of a team.
- To have the ability to communicate effectively and offer sound technical advice to both internal and external clients for SMS projects and operational activities.
- The ability to complete client work orders, permits, timesheets etc. correctly and to the satisfaction of SMS, the client and the end user.
- To be able to complete the maintenance of hydraulic / pneumatic control systems to current UKOOA guidelines.

Offshore Hydraulic Maintenance Technicians - SMS
Specialised Management Services is a leading provider in the supply, repair and refurbishment of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
We currently have vacancies for Offshore Hydraulic Maintenance Technicians.
Applicants should be experienced offshore engineers, preferably, with a hydraulics background alongside a strong foundation in preventive, reliability centred and break down maintenance of well head and associated offshore process equipment.
Applicants should possess the following attributes:
- A deep-seated commitment to safety, health and the environment in the offshore oil and gas industry.
- The ability to work independently when required.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Strong experience in oil and gas industry maintenance with a knowledge of maintenance management processes specifically, but not limited to, North Sea production platforms.
- Current BOSIET, Valid Offshore Medical Certificate, Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST).
Offshore Technicians are responsible for the execution of specific tasks either project related or client specific to include inspection, repair, refurbishments and testing etc. as well as other tasks for which they are deemed competent in accordance with the Operations Coordinator's judgement.
Key Duties
- System and function testing of hydraulic / pneumatic control panels.Completion of fittings take offs, tube and panel layouts, reading of drawings and assisting in the production of procedures relating to the build and testing of projects.
- Corrective maintenance and fault finding of client hydraulic / pneumatic control systems.
- Inspection & surveying of client hydraulic / pneumatic control systems.
- Installation of neat panel tube work and field installation tube work of good integrity in accordance with current UKOOA legislation.
- To be fully conversant with pressure testing control panels / tube work to SMS / UKOOA Standards up to 25,000psig.
- To be fully conversant with Hot Oil / Water Glycol flushing of small bore instrument tube / control panels to SMS / UKOOA standards.
- To undertake the calibration of pressure instruments i.e. relief valves, standard test gauges, pressure switches, pressure transmitters etc.
- Inspection, surveying and installation of flexible hose assemblies.
- Accumulator repair, inspection, Nitrogen pre-charging of bladder / piston accumulators and dampers and recertification etc.
- Detailed completion of project reports / documentation / certification and ensuring that said documentation is passed to the supervisor or engineer, signed, dated and identified correctly for invoicing.
- To be able to work under one’s own initiative or as part of a team.
- The ability to complete client work orders, permits, timesheets etc. correctly and to the satisfaction of SMS, the client and the end user.
- To be able to complete the maintenance of hydraulic / pneumatic control systems to current UKOOA guidelines.
- To be prepared to depart offshore / overseas at short notice as required.

Trainee Stores Person - SMS, Great Yarmouth
Specialised Management Services Ltd has a vacancy for a Trainee Stores Person at its facility in Great Yarmouth. This position will involve the checking in and dispatching of goods, stock control and working in conjunction with the workshop requirements.
The successful candidate will be asked at times to help out in the workshop with day to day duties and also to make deliveries and collections.
A clean driving licence is essential with at least 2 years driving experience; a forklift licence would be an advantage. Experience in a stores environment or an engineering background preferred.

Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Design Engineer
Alderley FZE, based in Jebel Ali, Dubai, U.A.E., are leaders in the design and manufacture of Metering and Produced Water Systems for the Oil and Gas Industry. We are currently looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual with extensive experience for the position of Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Design Engineer.
Duties include designing, procuring and testing of Oil & Gas Metering Systems and Produced Water Systems in hazardous area locations. The ideal candidates will be degree qualified, possess a sound instrumentation/electrical background and be familiar with hazardous area design codes and procedures. The individual will be able to communicate with engineers of various disciplines at all levels.
