Alderley Announces Record Trading Year

Alderley, a market leader in liquid and gas metering and produced water treatment packages, announces today a record trading year. Turnover has increased by 26% and profit before tax has increased by 52% from the previous year. All parts of the group have contributed towards this success with the majority of Alderley’s turnover derived from outside the United Kingdom, reflecting the global spread of its business within the oil and gas industries. The Alderley group comprises Alderley Systems, Alderley FZE, Alderley NefteGaz, Alderley ICD and Specialised Management Services.

During 2011, the market for Alderley’s products and services has been strong, with several contracts having been completed in Singapore by our Far East Projects Team. Alderley Systems have delivered amongst others deoiling hydrocyclones, Compact Floatation Units and degasser vessels for use in the North Sea, while Specialised Management Services (SMS) have designed and manufactured chemical injection units, Hydraulic power units for the North and Barents Sea.

The Middle East has been exceptionally buoyant and Alderley FZE has secured contracts for the design and manufacture of a variety of gas metering skids for a number of Middle Eastern countries. As a result Alderley is currently expanding its production facilities at their Jebel Ali Free Zone site, demonstrating continued commitment to the development of the Middle East Market.

Alderley Systems Ltd wins Process Systems package project in North Sea

Alderley Systems Ltd has been awarded a contract by global exploration and production company, Apache, to design and deliver a processing system capable of removing sufficient produced water in order to remove production constraints in the Forties field. The system will be installed on the Forties Bravo, located110 miles north-east of Aberdeen, in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The Forties Bravo platform is currently produced using down hole electrical submersible pumps with direct export via a sub-sea pipeline to the Forties Charlie platform for processing. The aim of the project is to install sufficient equipment on the Forties Bravo platform to reduce the water cut of the production fluids to Charlie and cleanup the waste (and solids).

Alderley Systems Ltd scope of supply is for a sand cleanup vessel, incorporating de-sanding hydrocyclone liners. The sand cleanup vessel (V-2311B), made from duplex stainless steel, will remove the entrained oil from the main partial processing hydrocyclone package and Degasser Vessel and will provide storage of the cleaned slurry in preparation for disposal overboard.

The vessel has been manufactured and successfully pressure tested with the fabrication of the project well underway at Alderley Systems Ltd UK base.

Alderley Systems Ltd Appoints Sales Director for Metering Systems

Alderley Systems Ltd, a subsidiary of Alderley plc, announces the appointment of Jim Gray as Sales Director for Metering Systems. Joining Alderley’s fiscal measurement integration team, Jim brings with him over 30 years of experience within the oil and gas industry gained from working for leading manufacturers such as SARASOTA, Spectra-tek, Daniel/Emerson and Cameron-Caldon. He has in depth knowledge of ultrasonic metering and is a member of the BSI (British Standards Institution) Committee / ISO Ultrasonic standards.

Alderley Systems Appoints New Managing Director

Alderley plc announces today the promotion of Jim McAleese as Managing Director of Alderley Systems (ASL). He brings more than two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry and will be responsible for the global development of the business, whilst developing the sales and proposals teams in the UK and South East Asia. Jim joined Alderley in 1980 as a project engineer and has held several roles during his time with the company, most recently as General Manager of ASL. Jim is not only an authority on metering system design and application but successfully led Alderley’s diversification into the Process Water Treatment Solutions market. He has led the development of project capabilities in South East Asia and recently delivered oil and gas meter projects including the OSX1 and Berantai FPSO, in record time. Alderley is a market leader in liquid and gas metering, produced water treatment packages and water injection systems.

Production Facilities Expansion for Alderley FZE

Alderley FZE is pleased to announce that preparation is under way for the construction of a new office block and modernisation of its production facilities at its 10,000m2 plot in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. This investment is a commitment by Alderley PLC to the continued development of the Middle East market and beyond. Alderley FZE is part of the Alderley Group and is the firm’s largest operating company overseas. Alderley FZE provides the full range of services for engineering, supply and operation of bespoke metering and produced water treatment solutions to the oil and gas industry.

The development will be completed by the end of 2012 and will involve the construction of a modern two storey office building of more than 1300m2, increasing seating capacity by 75%, dedicated training facilities, meeting rooms, IT infrastructure and all allied facilities. Existing offices and out buildings will be demolished and replaced with new production areas, thereby increasing in-house production capacity by almost 40%.

Alderley Launch New Metering Control System - Hawk

Alderley would like to announce the launch of an innovative new application to provide supervisory control for metering systems. The Hawk metering supervisory system is a fully integrated application which includes all of the functionality required to build complete systems from a comprehensive library of pre-tested components. The library components include all process points, limit set-points, alarms, events, control faceplates, graphic mimics, reports, schedules, logic, functions and trends that require very little further configuration. This allows systems to be constructed of well tested and proven building blocks with a common look and feel.

This new system is based on client / server architecture where the server runs as a background service and the client HMI application can be located on any PC on the local network. A single client workstation can access multiple servers without additional licensing or configuration to provide a single point of operation for very large distributed systems without the cost or maintenance overhead usually associated with this type of functionality.

The system is built on open standards with seamless data transparency to authorised third party applications. OPC DA is used for standard data, OPC AE for Alarm / Event data and OPC HDA for historical data. ODBC (Open Data Connectivity) allows external applications to query data in a native database format and integrated Crystal Reporting gives the user the ability to record the information and data they need in a format of their choice. The use of standard configuration and programming methodologies such as IEC 61131 ensure that systems can easily be modified and maintained, which allows flexibility for growth.

Hawk will give operators a clear and uncluttered view of metering information to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently and will give system and maintenance engineers a package that they can understand and grow to suit the future needs of the business.

Chris McGeehan Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alderley Group

Alderley plc announces today the appointment of Chris McGeehan as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Chris will join the Alderley Board with immediate effect, bringing the total number of Board members to six. Chris joined Alderley in January 2010 as Managing Director of Alderley Systems Group. Within this role Chris was responsible for overseeing the regional operating companies of Alderley Systems Ltd, Alderley FZE, Alderley Dammam and Alderley Neftegas. As CEO he will oversee and report to the Board on all Group business. Alderley is a market leader in liquid and gas metering, produced water treatment packages and water injection systems.

He has been instrumental in driving forward our regional operations in the UK, Middle East and Russia Chris will apply his experience and wealth of knowledge to oversee all Group business.

Prior to joining Alderley, Chris held the position of Chief Operating Officer of the profitable fabrication division of Sovereign Oilfield Services (Sovereign Fabrication Services). He joined that company following the acquisition of Caledonian Petroleum Services (CPS) where he was Managing Director and was responsible for leading the firm through a structured expansion from £3 million to £15 million over three years.

Mike Shepherd Takes on New Role

Alderley FZE has appointed Mike Shepherd as General Manager, as part of a recent management restructuring in Alderley’s Dubai operations. Mike will be responsible for the day to day running of the company and for the implementation of the business plan, ensuring that goals are met within the agreed timelines. As one of Alderley’s longest serving employees, Mike joined the company in 2000 as Project Engineer and four years later progressed to Project Manager before becoming Projects Director in late 2008.

Chris McGeehan, Managing Director of Alderley Systems Group says, “Mike brings a wealth of project management and technical experience to the position, as well as more than ten years of knowledge from his time with Alderley. He has been a key player in a number of projects and has worked with clients including Saudi Aramco, Qatar Gas, Ras Gas, Iraq South Gas, Kuwait Oil Company, Abu Dhabi Oil Company, Total and Exxon Mobil. I look forward to working with Mike as he takes on this new role.”

Second major contract win in Algeria for Alderley Systems Ltd

Alderley Systems Ltd has won a contract in excess of $3 million with JGC Corp. The Japanese LNG project specialists have commissioned Alderley Systems Ltd to design, manufacture and construct three metering skids for use on the Gassi Touil Project. The fabrication phase of the project will take place at the Alderley Systems Ltd’s UK base. The metering skids will then be delivered to Algeria, where they will be commissioned and installed at the Gassi Touil LNG site by Alderley Systems Ltd engineers.

Chris McGeehan, Managing Director of Alderley Systems Group comments, “We are committed to providing our clients with the best solution possible, focusing on improving performance and benefitting their bottom line. The technology in this project is conventional, which is liquid metering packages using bi-directional provers with ultrasonic meters. Our innovation and drive for excellence continues to result in significant contract wins.”

Gassi Touil, when completed, will be an integrated gas project combining production from an onshore field with a plant to convert the fuel into liquefied natural gas for export. The gas processing facilities will have a throughput of 12 million metric standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd). This project represents the second time in 12 months that Alderley Systems Ltd will be designing and fabricating metering systems for use in Algeria.

As part of the Gassi Touil project Alderley Systems Ltd will deliver three metering packages - agas metering skid incorporating 3x 50% 12" ultrasonic meter runs and gas analysis equipment, a condensate metering skid incorporating 2x 100% 4" meter runs, bi directional prover and fast loop sampling and an LPG metering skid incorporating 2x 100% 4" ultrasonic meter runs, bi directional prover and fast loop sampling. The scope also incorporates a water-draw trailer for use with the provers.
