Ultrasonic Meters

Once considered an engineering novelty, ultrasonic flowmeters are now a common selection for metering packages. In many applications and with careful integration, these gas and liquid meters can meet and beat traditional instrument accuracies.

Loading and Unloading

The loading and unloading of road and rail tankers has always been a crucial link in bringing fuel to consumers. There is a need for special consideration of the hazardous nature of the operation - often in urban areas where safety and environmental issues are paramount. There is also a need for absolute accuracy as the value of the refined product is much greater than the crude from which it is produced.

Alderley experience brings these systems to the market, alongside the high capacity needs of marine loading and unloading packages.

Wet Gas Metering

Wet gas metering can be considered a 'special case' of the more general multiphase metering. Alderley supply both ultrasonic and venturi meters suitable for this demanding service.


Mass Metering

For some applications, coriolis mass-meters offer a technical solution for metering of difficult fluids. Oils with high viscosity and solids content can harm more traditional meters and fiscal accuracy is achievable with careful system design.

Gas Flow Conditioning

Conventional orifice flow metering systems may be enhanced by the use of proven flow conditioning elements such as perforated plate designs. Older systems too can be refurbished to improve uncertainty and to meet life of field process and equipment changes.

Integrated Solutions

To complement our design and supply of meter elements and flow computers, we have a range of upstream and downtream ancillaries. The sphere or piston provers form the backbone of conventional oil metering systems and these are supplemented by automatic sampling loops for the measurement of density, water in oil, and viscosity.

The majority of Alderley gas contracts require on-line assessment of gas quality and our packages routinely incorporate analyser or meter houses for this critical equipment. Air conditioned or freely ventilated, these incorporate chromatographs, H₂S analysers, water in gas monitors, hydrocarbon dew points, automatic sampling and relative density.

Additionally, Alderley supply related systems for separation, filtration, flow and pressure control, providing a complete one-stop integrated solution.

Computer Control and Metering Systems

Most critical to the performance of any metering installation is the computer control system. To ensure proper management of this vital hardware/software interface, ASL specify and supply customer and standard panels seamlessly integrated with the metering equipment.
