Overview
The Wellhead Control Panel (WCP) is designed to be installed on a fixed production facility, where the area is classified as ‘Zone 1’, ‘Gas Group IIB’, and ‘Temperature Class T3’ environment where hydrocarbon gases may be present. The WCP is designed for operation with mineral oil based fluids, typically ‘Shell Tellus T-15’ or equivalent.
The WCP is of a modular design whereby the complete unit can be replaced or returned to SMS Group for maintenance.

 Wellhead control panel (typical)
The Wellhead Control Panel (WCP) generates clean Low-Pressure (LP). The LP system provides direct feed to the Wing Valve (WV), Upper Master Valve (UMV) and has a power take off for the Choke supply. The LP system feeds the HP system (SCSSV) via a 3:1 pressure intensifier.
Each system's pressure is generated by one electrically driven hydraulic pump. The system operating pressures are:
- Pump Supply – 207 Barg
- LP – 207 Barg (UMV, FWV)
- LP – 207 Barg (Choke Supply)
- HP – 495 Barg (Regulated via intensifier)
Panel construction
The enclosure is of a 316L stainless steel construction designed in accordance with the static and dynamic stresses caused by the weight of the panel and internal equipment such as, the hydraulic fluid reservoir, accumulators, pumps and motors.
The enclosure is designed within a given footprint.
The major sub-components contained in each unit are:
- 70 Litre Fluid supply reservoir
- 1off x 400 VAC Motor/Pump set
- 2off x 37 Litre 420 Barg Bladder Accumulators (Supply to 207 Barg headers)
- Pressure Intensifier, 3:1 Ratio
